It is always a delight photographing a family as they welcome a new baby. To be trusted not only to capture these important moments, but be welcomed into their home during such a delicate time truly is an honor. It is especially fun when that baby is joining a family that already knows how fun life can be with little ones.

Baby Brielle joined a family with two big sisters, and her newborn session was the sweetest celebration of becoming a family of five. With two big sisters ready to love on their new baby sister, this session was full of the little moments that make this season of life so special.

For this newborn photography session, we kept things relaxed, natural, and bright. Rather than focusing on overly posed photographs, we spent the day capturing the family simply enjoying one another. There are many photos of Brielle being cuddled, the girls interacting, and making space for their sweet pup to be part of the memories… because this season is all about capturing things as they are, in both the perfect and imperfect moments.

A Relaxed In-Home Newborn Session

One of my favorite things about an in-home newborn session is that there is no pressure for everyone to be perfectly posed or perfectly behaved. Your home becomes the backdrop for photographs that feel personal to your family and true to this particular season.

For Brielle’s session, we made our way outside into the backyard. The bright greenery, natural light, and neutral white outfits created such a fresh and timeless look. Everyone was dressed in soft whites and light neutrals, which kept the photographs feeling airy while allowing the focus to stay exactly where it should be, on Brielle and her sweet family.

Watching older siblings meet and love on a new baby is one of my favorite parts of newborn photography, and it adds such a fun element to the session. Brielle’s big sisters brought so much personality and happiness to their session, and you could already see how excited they were to have a baby sister.

And, of course, if you know me, you know we could not leave out their sweet pup, Annie! There is something especially meaningful about photographs that include all of the people (and pets!) who were there when a new baby came home. Years from now, these are the details that will bring you right back to this moment.

Brielle’s newborn session was a beautiful reminder that the best family photographs aren’t necessarily about getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time or being in a perfectly curated studio backdrop… they’re about remembering what it felt like to be together. And this family, with their three little girls and sweet pup, made it very easy to capture that joyful feeling.
