As the cooler days of fall settle into Minnesota, I’m holding on to a few more of my favorite moments from summer. better way to Including, Rebecca and Nevin’s beautiful Noerenberg Gardens engagement session in Wayzata. One of the best things about living in the Twin Cities/metro is all of the well kept parks and gardens. With its beautiful landscaping and romantic setting near Lake Minnetonka, Noerenberg Gardens was a lovely backdrop for Rebecca and Nevin’s engagement portraits.
Located near Wayzata, Minnesota, Noerenberg Memorial Gardens is one of those places that feels made for engagement photos. Between the manicured gardens, colorful blooms, and lush greenery, there is no shortage of beautiful places to photograph. For Rebecca and Nevin’s engagement session, the gardens provided a setting that felt both romantic and effortless. I love how a location like this can add so much character to photographs while still allowing the couple to be the focus.Additionally, the variety of natural backdrops makes it easy to create a gallery that feels cohesive without every photograph looking the same.
One of my favorite things about photographing engagement sessions is creating images that couples will love just as much decades from now. While trends come and go, there’s something so beautiful about engagement photos surrounded by nature. Throughout an engagement session, I love balancing more traditional portraits with natural, candid moments. That combination creates a gallery that feels polished while still capturing the little interactions that make each couple unique. Recently, many brides have been requesting no posed photos and lots of “movement”. While we can definitely focus on one or the other, having a few more classic photos is always a nice touch to pull an album together… even if it just gets sent to family members!

I always recommend starting with the overall feeling you want your photographs to have. For couples drawn to romantic, timeless images, a garden setting is hard to beat.
