There’s something extra special about getting to travel for an engagement session, and Danielle and Michael’s session in Madison, Wisconsin this past summer was the perfect reminder of why I love it so much! Exploring a new location always brings fresh inspiration, and this day felt effortless from start to finish.

We began the session with more traditional portraits, focusing on those timeless, romantic moments. Danielle and Michael were naturals in front of the camera—so relaxed and clearly comfortable with each other. The classic setting paired with their easy connection made for photos that feel both elegant and genuine. From there, things took a fun turn as we headed out onto the water for a boat ride. I will NEVER say no to a boat ride. This part of the session added such a playful, candid energy. This fun energy made it feel more like a date-night than a photo session- which is always ideal when it comes to getting authentic engagement photos! Those in-between moments always end up being some of my favorites.

We wrapped up the evening downtown, where the city gave us the perfect mix of texture and movement. The combination of soft evening light and the buzz of the streets created a completely different vibe. Danielle and Michael’s session was the perfect balance of classic and fun, and getting to document it in such a beautiful city made it even more memorable. Sessions like this are exactly why I’ll never say no to packing my bags and hitting the road!
