General Tips + Housekeeping Items
- All of my sessions offer at least two outfits. Start with the formal first, and then half way through change into the casual. I also provide a portable changing room for you to utilize if needed!
- I know you are nervous and your partner might not love having their photo taken. But it’s my job to make you both feel at ease and comfortable on the other side of my lens. I love to keep you laughing and moving! That being said, I can only crack jokes for so long. Please try and come with an open mind and positive attitude!
- It is likely your selected location is a public park / place. Be prepared for people around you, but I’ll shoo them away if needed.
- Your engagement session is a great opportunity to see how I work and for me to see you and your partner as a couple. I’m able to get a better idea of what feels authentic to you and use that for your wedding day!
- Dogs are of course welcome! I just ask that you give me a heads up so I can bring some treats. Additionally, if you are bringing a dog, please bring a trusted friend to be their handler during your session. I would NOT recommend this person to be a parent, because who wants to kiss with their parents watching in the wings?!
- Clean your ring. Even a quick wash with dish soap and a toothbrush will do!
- Don’t be afraid to over communicate with me. Ex: If your session is scheduled for the hottest day of the year but you sweat easily, tell me and we can reschedule! If you are having the worst time deciding what to wear, send me some options and I can help guide you.
- Relax and enjoy it You’re all dressed up with your favorite person!
Self Care / Make Up / Skin Care
- Use your engagement session as a trial with your hair and make up artist if you can!
- Paint your nails if it feels genuine to you. I take a few photos of your hands and the ring so your fingernails will be in some photos.
- Please do NOT get a spray tan before your session. I know, being tan is the best! But there is a high likelihood your skin will translate as muddy in photos. If you must have one, go for a shade lighter than normal.
- If you are using retinol or prescription skin care, try and stop a week or so before your session date to avoid peeling / dry skin.
- Similarly, do not introduce any new skincare products in the weeks leading up to your session to avoid any possible irritations.
