September in Minnesota is special- it’s that time when summer has started to close and true fall is on the horizon. It’s still warm enough to run around outside into the evening, but not so hot that you feel like you’re melting. That’s what makes it a great time to take family photos! One of my favorite things about fall family sessions is how naturally they come together. The layers, the textures, the warm colors—it all photographs so beautifully without feeling forced. This family leaned into these vibes with their outdoor session! The kids had just enough room to run and explore, which always makes for the best candid moments. Some of my favorite images from the evening were the in-between ones: dad swinging a giggling toddler through the air, mom pulling a little one close, everyone gathering close together to share a giggle.

The light came out in all it’s glory for this session. The sun filtered through the trees and wrapped everything in the dreamiest glow. It felt calm and easy, like one of those evenings you wish you could bottle up and keep. The nice weather in Minnesota doesn’t last last long, which makes sessions like this feel even more special. It’s a small window of time where the world feels extra vibrant and families are naturally drawn closer together. I’m so grateful I get to freeze these fleeting seasons of life… the connection, the chaos, and all the love in between.
