As I look out the window at slush and melting ice, I can’t help but think about the outdoor sessions to come later this year! It got me reminiscing about Paulina and Jacob’s engagement session this fall featuring their dog, Opal! Fall engagement sessions in Minnesota just hit differently. The air is a little crisp, the trees show off, and golden hour seems to last just a bit longer. This session was one of those easy, relaxed evenings where everything came together without trying too hard… and you can see that in the album. It was hard to choose which photos to feature as every one was filled with their joy and love for each other… and for Opal!

We met up as the sun started to dip and the golden hour light made everything glow. The leaves added the prettiest backdrop without stealing the focus from these two. Paulina and Jacob are so natural together—lots of laughter, quiet in-between moments, and that comfortable, just-being-us kind of energy that makes my job simple and so fun!

Of course, Opal had to be part of it… and frankly, she stole the show! Their sweet pup tagged along and completely fit the vibe. A few cuddly shots, a few playful ones, and plenty of tail wags in between. Including her made the session feel even more like them, which is always the goal.

It was one of those Minnesota fall evenings that reminds you why this season is such a favorite for engagements—beautiful light, beautiful colors, and most importantly a beautiful love story. I just can’t wait for all of the outdoor sessions to come this year!
