Today felt like one of those rare February gifts — warm sunshine, melting ice, and that subtle hint in the air that winter won’t last forever. The way the light reflected off the thawing ice and snow instantly had me dreaming of summer evenings, golden sunsets, and all the beautiful engagements and weddings still to come this year.

It reminded me so much of Ashley and Nicholas’ engagement session last June by the lake in Wayzata. It was a shoot filled with warmth, a gorgeous glow, and lots off joy! June by the water has a magic all its own — soft breezes, sunlit shorelines, and that carefree energy that makes you want to take just a few more photos… over, and over.

From the very start, Ashley and Nicholas brought such a natural playfulness to their session. They laughed easily, embraced every sweet moment, and made it clear just how much fun they have together. Between relaxed lakeside strolls and quiet, romantic pauses by the water, their connection felt effortless and genuine.To top it all off, they added an outfit change that gave us the perfect variety. It blended a laid-back summer feel with a more elevated, romantic look. It was such a beautiful reflection of who they are: fun, stylish, and completely in sync.
